Zoe Ball: BBC Radio 2 host receives bad news one year after taking over from Chris Evans


 Zoe Ball, 48, has been at the helm of the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show for a year now However, the Strictly: It Takes Two presenter has attracted fewer listeners than Chris Evans, 53 Figures have revealed the small screen favoruite has pulled in the lowest number of listeners to the Radio 2 Breakfast Show in 10 years Her time on the morning show has seen audience figures decrease by almost a million, with 7 9 million currently tuning in. In comparison, Chris attracted 8.82 million weekly listeners in the same time frame last year  Zoe initially got off to a successful start as she managed to keep the majority of Chris’ listeners  The figures from today covering breakfast programmes are 364,000 down on the 8.27 million audience the star posted in the previous period’s Rajar results  The statistics mean Ken Bruce’s Radio 2 broadcast, with 8.44 million listeners, has triumphed over Zoe’s show as the most listened-to radio show in the UK  In spite of this bad news, the TV and radio personality still has the top breakfast programme in the country after becoming the first female host of the show  Chris’ breakfast programme on Virgin Radio is also going strong as it has held onto an audience of just over one million  In response to the figures, a Radio 2 spokesman said: “Radio 2 remains the most listened to radio station in the UK   “Some fluctuation is expected, particularly over the summer months.” Elsewhere, Zoe admitted she was experiencing another “upset” after the most controversial Strictly Come Dancing elimination of the series  The star was joined by Alex Scott, 35, and her professional dance partner Neil Jones, 37, on It Takes Two as they spoke about Dev Griffin, 34, and Dianne Buswell, 30, being voted out of the competition  Speaking to the former Arsenal footballer and the Ballroom pro, Zoe said: “Sitting at the bottom of the leaderboard, that’s never a happy place for anyone ”   Addressing Alex’s reaction to the news, she added: “Your face when Dev’s light went red ” The host then shared footage of the moment when it was announced Dev would be in the dance-off following the public vote, despite Alex being at the bottom of the leaderboard  She then admitted she still finds the moment very emotional. Zoe divulged: “I still can’t look at Dev and Dianne without getting really upset We send them lots of love.” Alex went on to speak out on Dev’s shock exit and explained she thought he would make it to the final as she branded the Radio 1 DJ a “dark horse”  She said: “I said from the start, Dev is my dark horse. He’ll be in the final. He’s amazing So when I saw Dev in front of us and me being the bottom of the leaderboard. I thought ‘It’s us [going home],’” referring to herself and Neil
