ESPIONAGE , CHEATING , COPYING – CHINA TARGETING THE U.S & RUSSIA | DEFENSE UPDATES

On 26th Dec, a Chinese man in the United States
has been caught for snapping photos of Naval Air Station in Key West, Florida. The man went to the area early and started
snapping clips of sensitive location. As per reports, at about 6.50 am some people
in the vicinity saw him walking around a perimeter fence and entering the military facility from
the rocks along the water. They even warned him that he was trespassing
in a restricted site which is also known as Truman Annex. In the meantime, the US Military Police noticed
it and swung into action. In this video Defense Updates analyzes why
a Chinese man getting caught red-handed trying to photograph U.S Naval Air Station is not
a one-off incident? Let’s get started This video is sponsored by War Thunder. If you are, like us, fascinated by military
vehicles and technology, I recommend you give War Thunder a try. It’s a military vehicle combat game which
you can download and play for free on PC, PlayStation4 and Xbox One – with cross-platform

in the description below. So, take the plunge and join the more than
20 million players from all over the world! US Military Police approached him and checked
out the photos on his mobile phone. The police officers immediately called a federal
agent. The federal agent arrested Liao on a charge
of entering the naval property for the purpose of photographing defense installations. According to the complaint affidavit,
Liao agreed to waive his Miranda rights and told the agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative
Service in broken English that “he was trying to take photographs of the sunrise”. But his lie was caught immediately when he
provided the passcode to his cellphone and allowed the agent to look at the images. The agent “observed photographs of Truman
Annex on the camera”. Liao who is 27, had his first federal court
appearance Friday afternoon in Key West via a video link with Magistrate Judge Patrick
Hunt in Fort Lauderdale and Assistant US Attorney Karen Gilbert in Miami. Hunt appointed the federal public defender’s
office to represent Liao and scheduled his pretrial detention hearing for January 6. His court proceedings will be a week later. This incident marks the second time since
last year that a Chinese national has been charged with taking photos of defense assets
at the Naval Air Station in Key West. In September of 2018, Zhao Qianli, who claimed
to be a music student from China, got caught by the Key West police for trespassing onto
the high-security Naval Air Station. He later told federal authorities that he
lost his way on the tourist trail and did not realize it was a military base. Just like Liao, investigators found photos
and videos on Qianli’s cellphone as well as on his digital camera. It contained snaps of government buildings
and a Defence Department antenna field on the military base. Qianli who was 20, pleaded guilty in February
to one count of photographing defense installations at the Key West military facility and was
sentenced to one year in prison by US District Judge K. Michael Moore. It is interesting to note that the judge gave
him the maximum sentence, which was higher than the sentencing guidelines between zero
and six months. The US attorney’s office sought nine months
in prison. In March, a Chinese woman was arrested at
US President Donald Trump’s private club in Palm Beach after she bluffed her way into
Mar-a-Lago. Zhang Yujing, 33, was charged with trespassing
in a restricted area and lying to a federal agent. Another Chinese woman, Lu Jing, 56, was charged
earlier this month with misdemeanor counts of loitering or prowling and resisting arrest
without violence, after being caught trespassing at Mar-a-Lago. A Chinese team was recently disqualified from
its own Military World Games. This was because of “extensive cheating” by
the hosts. The Military World Games is a multi-sport
event for military sportspeople, organized by the International Military Sports Council
(CISM). The Games have been held since 1995, although
championships for separate sports had been held for some years. Like the Olympics, the Military World Games
are held every four years. For this year’s event China built an athlete’s
village in Wuhan, and the country’s president, Xi Jinping, attended the opening ceremony. The specific event tests runners on their
speed and map-reading abilities. They need to navigate the unknown terrain
with only a map and compass. But it was discovered that the Chinese runners
were using illegal means. This includes taking assistance from spectators
and using markings and small paths that only the Chinese team was aware of. IOF officials investigated the results after
protests from rivals including Russia, Switzerland, France, Poland, and Austria. Eventually, the jury decided to void the Chinese
team’s results and ban them from other races. Organizers rejected an appeal from the Chinese
athletes. This is not the first time Chinese have been
caught for cheating in major events. Doping scandals have riddled China’s international
sporting record in the past decade, with some athletes stripped of Olympic gold medals. In January 2017, three Chinese women’s weightlifting
gold medallists at the 2008 Beijing Olympics were disqualified and stripped of their medals
for doping following a reanalysis of their drug tests. A Chinese doctor claimed that there had been
a systematic doping program in China during the 1980s and 1990s across a range of sports,
in an interview with German media According to the whistleblower, Xue Yinxian,
all medals won by Chinese athletes at major international tournaments in the last two
decades of the 20th century are tainted by doping. Not only China is caught cheating in sports,
use civilian for spying but it has been copying weapons from the U.S & Russia. China has used espionage and revere engineering
to accomplish this. For example, let’s check two such systems. Y-20 DOPPELGANGER is copied FROM C-17 GLOBEMASTER
III Beginning in the winter of 2009, two Chinese
hackers began sending malicious e-mails to Boeing employees disguised to look as if they
came from familiar people. Over the next two years, hackers stole some
630,000 files from Boeing related to the C-17, the third most expensive plane that the Pentagon
has ever developed, with research and development costs of $3.4 billion. On 26 Jan 2013 Chinese copy of C17, Y-20 Doppelganger,
first flew. Currently, 8 are in service, more production
is planned in the future. SHENYANG J-11 & J-15 FLYING SHARK IS COPIED
FROM THE RUSSIAN SUKHOI SU-27 & SUKHOI SU-33 Russia and China had a deal through which
China would acquire Su 27s Russians claim that the Chinese began violating
licensing terms almost immediately, by installing their own avionics on Flankers, under Chinese
designation J 11. The deal fell apart after about half of the
Su-27s were sent to China and Moscow accused Chinese manufacturers of replicating the jet
under the names J-11 and J11-B. J-15 Flying Shark is a derivative/illegal
copy of the Russian SU-33 which was originally based on the Sukhoi-27 airframe. But the copying has been done with limited
success due to complex engineering involved and J-15 Flying Shark is referred to as ‘flopping
fish’ for its inability to operate effectively from the Chinese carrier. Even Russian are fed up and recently expressed
their frustration publicly which is rare since the relation between Moscow and Beijing is
good. Russian state defense conglomerate Rostec
accused China of illegally copying a wide range of Russian weapons and military hardware. Yevgeny Livadny, Rostec’s chief of intellectual
property projects on Dec14 said, “Unauthorized copying of our equipment abroad
is a huge problem. There have been 500 such cases over the past
17 years. China alone has copied aircraft engines, Sukhoi
planes, deck jets, air defense systems, portable air defense missiles, and analogs of the Pantsir
medium-range surface-to-air systems.” Chinese can go to any length to achieve its
objectives and countries which are not even its rival have to be careful.

You forgot to mention the F-117 Stealth that was shot down over the Balkans. The Chinese got ahold of the wreckage, reverse engineered the technology, and now have an exact replica except their's is a two seater.
So the Chinese now have limited stealth capability.

What's next?! IPhones? πŸ˜’ (sarcasm) It should be Xi-rox Jinping.
Content should have been on how many recent security violations, not on given Chinese ethics. Only two quasi significant stories with no conclusion. Is there an uptick in this activity? Chinese have stolen vitals on, and implanted cyber bombs in our electric grid. Tried to build near sensitive sites. Our greatest security threats are China based American companies, including defense contractors Boeing, and BAE.

All nations spy on all others and have their share of cheaters… The difference with China is that ALL of them cheat and spy, even on each other. In their twisted society, spying and cheating become a badge of some sort of deranged "honor". WEIRD!

I really wish Russia and USA/The West would strengthen their ties and become allies, because the Russia of today is not the Soviet Union from the past. I think even Reagan would admit that.

China is the only one keeping the Soviet Union mentality alife by suprising their own citizens who think abit diffrent while seeking world dominance

Has anyone noticed that the latest Chinese nuclear submarine, the type 095 or β€œSui Class” bears a very strong resemblance to the American Virginia Class submarine?
    How curious.

It's funny now watching Russia complaining of China copying their technology when Russia has been doing the same thing to the west for over half a century. Turnaround it fair play right. LOL!

Oh noes China spying. Spying has been part of wars for thousands of years. The fastest way to get to parity has always been through spying. Complaining about it seems kind of useless. Especially when the US spy even on its own allies.

Think of it from the trashy ccp perspective you do all the research, they steal and make you waste even more money. The US has one of the most inefficient industrial military complex in the world. 20-25percent of government budgets are used for military. The national debt keeps rising

From a strategic view Copying the US will break it either economically or the adversely reaches parity.

Spend more time stopping spies and stop show off every new toy the US makes and improve efficiency is only option

China is a disgrace to Asian people! Instead of being a good leader as the biggest Asian country, it has been exploiting, bullying and suppressing Asian nations around it. It is been a disgrace by using all unfair and illegal practices to steal technologies from others. Its not trusthworthy and simply despicable. If what they went through history has not taught them anything about humanity, it probably deserved what they had to go through. Some people becomes more empathetic and sympathetic after going through hard times. While some become evil. The latter has happened to China. They are so dishonest, selfish, cunning and greedy that there is no honour left on them. Shame on you!

  • CREOLE DADDY

But they arrest and prosecute 1st amendment righters all the time for doing the same thing. Bet they eventually let the Chinese man go home. Probably gave him a tour after the arrest! Idiots all!

Don't know why Russia does business with China. All they do is reverse engineer Russian tech once they buy new hardware only to immediately cancel the contract once they got a great deal of information.

Uh oh, time for AOC to fly to Florida and get all bug eyed about racism committed against a good decent hard working Chinese national just trying to do a job Americans won't do,,,, spying on the U.S. military,,, and a white male is most likely oppressing him. No, I'm not stretching the example. There is a political party that believes there should be no rules for anyone trying to get into America, and especially no rules after they get inside the borders, diversity is our strength after all, and if someone dares to object, or point out the activity of those here illegally, or legally from an adversary nation, then obviously it's just racism. While it is racist to automatically suspect someone of something because of race, I say it's waaay more racist to say, because someone is of another race, they are above suspicion, cannot commit crimes, or can never be countered about a view they hold. Also, why arrest him for taking pics? I was on a harbour tour at Norfolk Va, and the boat we were on passed within 50 yards of docked nuclear submarines, hatches open, and two large Eastern European/Russian "gentleman" on the boat with us were very excited to be taking non stop pics using telephoto lenses longer than their arms of the subs. In my subtle style, and against the objections of my girlfriend, I say hey, Ivan and Egor, why waste the batteries? This is America and everyone loves us, we keep no secrets. I'm sure when we get back and dock, you will find that accurate scale models and framed schematics are available for purchase in the gift shop. Doesn't your home country take foreign tourist besides their nuclear military assets? I have other stories similar to that, but what's the point? We have Chinese Nationals going to our universities involved in advance manufacturing and defense research, becoming naturalized citizens and working within government agencies which, even if not D.O.D. specific, allows great advantage by being on the inside on the U.S. governments intranet. Even Obama had issues with the thousands of foreign scientist allowed visitor privileges to the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, especially when it was discovered that 75% of those were from,,, wait for it,,, wait for it,, China. As you would expect, the "scientist" there at the time had an issue with that and all signed their idiotic, science and knowledge is for mankind protest letter B.S., even though they are doing national security projects. (Oddly, I googled this to provide references and not one single search result came back, hmm, the same Google assisting the communist Chinese in tracking Chinese citizens, and developing A.I. for use by the Red Army). So point is, it's funny they didn't even release this guy considering the out in the open large scale espionage that occurs within our own institutions, protected by lefties, and justified by political correctness.

  • BROKENDREAMER

Hahaha, damn talk about despair. At the end they will go down in history as a disgraceful, paranoid nation becoming a technical parasite who couldn't make their own advanced in technology.Their game is specializing in industrial espionage and technological espionage including bulling around other countries and we all know what happens to big bullies.Yup,they collapse under their own weight.

  • BROKENDREAMER

The U.S has always underestimated China and unfortunately we have given and sold failed technological projects to them. One of them is an electromagnetic gun Satellite that fires unexplosive projectile that uses gravity to destroy any vessel on Earth.Very inexpensive to maintain.Thats bullshit.

  • Ronald Smith

Let me know where he is and when I get there point him out. I'll beat his ass and make sure he gets that he isn't welcome. Don't understand why he wasn't arrested and taken in for questioning. There's obviously something shady going on in this situation.

We had correspondence courses when I was in. The blacks had cheat sheets for these, the more that you did the more promotion points you got. So, not only did they get 10 – 20 more points added because of skin color, they cheated also. Results, UNQUALIFIED people promoted and, some og these people could barely read.

  • Guy Tero

Mmmmmm. πŸ€” America wouldn't even dream of spying on another country. Besides, let's create a fear of Russia, North Korea and China to keep the sheeple in constant fear and compliance.

  • Todd Holmes

as for spying, the United States is the number one target for China. You failed to mention the two Chinese "diplomats" that tried to gain access to Naval Amphibious Base, Little Creek that house SEAL TEAMS in Norfolk, Virginia. The Chinese is America's number one enemy. They will do anything and use anybody for their spy craft. Like many user below mentioned, all people who come to our country are instructed to spy for their state (China). We need to change our way of life here in the United States. These are not the days of our forefathers. People are coming to our country to harm us, we must change and adapt with the times. It is not only our military secrets they aspire to get, they will steal anything they think will give them an edge. Stop letting Chinese into our country PERIOD. If these people do come here and are caught spying, kill them. If you are a spy in China and you are caught, guess what is going to happen to you.
